Benyamin Chao

Benyamin Chao is the Health & Public Benefits Policy Analyst at the California Immigrant Policy Center (CIPC). His duties include working with the Food4All coalition to address food insecurity in immigrant communities and the California Protecting Immigrant Families (CA PIF) Coalition to protect and improve access to safety net programs for immigrants. 

Benyamin received his bachelor’s degrees in Molecular and Cell Biology and South and Southeast Asian Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. Benyamin worked at Housing Long Beach as a community organizer, where he advocated for tenant protections and affordable housing policies at the municipal level. Prior to joining CIPC, Benyamin researched mental health and violence prevention with the My Brother’s Keeper Initative and the Youth Leadership Institute. 

Benyamin immigrated to the U.S. from Brunei and grew up in Long Beach, California. Benyamin is currently based out of Sacramento, California.
