CIPC plays a leadership role in Sacramento, working alongside policy makers, advocates, and community members to shape the policies that support immigrants and their families. As a convener of multiple coalitions made up of diverse organizations across the state, we use our platform to bring the voices of all Californians to the forefront of policy conversations in Sacramento. Every piece of legislation being considered by our state’s lawmakers should advance equitable and just solutions for all of us, and must not exclude our state’s vibrant immigrant communities.
We have played a key role in achieving groundbreaking policy wins that have advanced inclusivity and civil rights, and supported the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of Californians —further establishing California as a national leader in pro-immigrant policies. Over the past 25 years, CIPC has helped pass more than 30 pro-immigrant laws in the state, including: The Safe and Responsible Driver Act, the TRUST Act, the One California initiative, the E-Verify Bill and the Health for All Kids and Health for All 50+, among others — signature legislative accomplishments propelled by the organization’s ability to coordinate, convene and mobilize a broad and diverse array of advocates towards a common goal.
Every Californian should have access to what they need to be healthy and thrive. We partner with coalitions of advocates, state agencies, stakeholders, and community members to champion policies that promote access to health and human services. Together, we can uplift the principle that health is a human right.
We believe that all Californians should have the tools they need to meaningfully support themselves, their families, and achieve economic mobility on their own terms. We strive to create an equitable state economy and financial safety net that explicitly addresses disparities based on race and immigration status.
We work to challenge the criminalization of immigrant communities, disrupt the arrest to deportation pipeline, and end state support for ICE and detention centers. We do this work with a racial justice lens and in partnership with grassroots organizations and coalitions across California.
