CIPC Proudly Announces Immigrant Day of Action 2024: Advocacy Event to be held on April 16 at the State Capitol

Los Angeles (Feb. 21, 2024) – The California Immigrant Policy Center (CIPC) today announced that it would hold its annual “Immigrant Day of Action 2024: Our Diversity is Our Power” in Sacramento on April 16, 2024. Immigrant Day of Action (IDA) brings together hundreds of people from across the state to the Capitol to advocate for immigrant rights.

This year’s theme “Our Diversity is Our Power” was chosen to highlight the power inherent in California’s diverse immigrant communities. This message is especially important to uplift during this presidential election year.

“As our diverse immigrant communities face attacks during this election year, we must take all opportunities to organize, advocate, and acknowledge the history, creativity and contributions immigrants make,” said CIPC Executive Director Masih Fouladi. “Direct engagement with our elected state representatives during Immigrant Day of Action on issues such as health access, food assistance and immigrant legal services is one step in ensuring that our community is heard. I am looking forward to seeing everyone celebrating our diversity and our power, holding our elected leaders accountable and advocating for a more equitable and just California.”

During the daylong event, participants will hold a rally, visit elected representatives and advocate for various issues, such as expanded access to health care, food assistance and legal representation.

At the rally, IDA attendees will hear directly from elected leaders, advocacy organizations and immigrants who are most impacted by the policies that the state government implements.

Participants and the organizations they represent will have an opportunity to decide the specific policy platform highlighted in this year’s event. The policy platform will be announced before the event after the participants have had a vote.

Registration for the event is limited and anyone interested in attending is encouraged to submit their registration soon. Registration and other information about IDA is available here.
