Integrated Voter Engagement & the New American Voters Alliance

California’s 10.9 million immigrants aren’t waiting to be counted. We’re organizing to be heard.

A new governor takes office after 2026. The decisions made in the next few years, about health care, food security, legal services, and economic opportunity, will shape immigrant families’ lives for a generation. CIPC is making sure New American voters are organized, informed, and ready to show up, this November and every day in between.

Power That Lasts Longer Than an Election Cycle

Too often, immigrant communities hear from campaigns only in the final weeks before an election, and then not again until the next one. Integrated Voter Engagement (IVE) changes that.

IVE connects voter outreach to year-round organizing. The neighbor who knocks on your door in October is the same one who shows up at your community meeting in March and advocates with you in Sacramento in May. Trust gets built, and it lasts. That’s how civic power grows.

Introducing the New American Voters Alliance (NAVA)

Stronger together, statewide.

For years, grassroots immigrant rights organizations have done powerful work in their communities, but often on their own, with limited tools and only during election season. The New American Voters Alliance brings these groups together into a coordinated statewide network committed to year-round voter engagement. NAVA is a project of the California Immigrant Policy Center 501(c)(3) and California Immigrants in Action 501(c)(4).

Built on nearly a decade of statewide convening through CIPC’s Regional Capacity Building Project, NAVA gives partner organizations what they need to reach voters strategically and effectively: shared tools, hands-on training, funding for field staff, and a unified voice.

How It Works

  • CIPC builds the infrastructure. As NAVA’s convener and backbone organization, CIPC coordinates the alliance, designs campaign frameworks alongside partners, coaches partner staff, and provides access to professional voter contact tools, including voter file data and phone banking technology that most community organizations can’t access on their own.
  • Partners bring the community. Alliance members bring deep community trust, multilingual capacity, and regional roots. They lead outreach through phone banking, canvassing, and text messaging, and shape messaging so every conversation reflects the people it’s meant to reach.
  • Everyone shares the decisions. A partner-led steering committee co-owns alliance strategy. Members meet annually for joint planning and quarterly by region, and speak with one shared immigrant voter narrative across California.

Protecting Every Voter’s Right to Vote

Every eligible voter deserves to cast a ballot without fear. Through multilingual voter rights education, trained poll watchers, and celebratory Joy to the Polls early voting events, NAVA helps New American voters walk into their polling place informed, confident, and supported.
