Are you ready to build an equitable California where everyone—our family, friends, colleagues and neighbors – can thrive? Then don’t miss this year’s Immigrant Day of Action (IDA) on Tuesday, May 9, 2023!
Over the past three years, we have gathered virtually to meet with legislators and advocate for policies that advance immigrant justice in California. This year we are pleased to return to Sacramento for an in-person IDA. Attendance will be limited in comparison to past years due to restrictions within legislative offices at the Capitol and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our beloved community. Because of this, we have reached out to partners to attend the in-person portion.
BUT this does not mean we have not thought through opportunities to engage even from afar. We recognize that even with a “full” IDA, we would not encompass the true size and scope of the immigrant justice movement in California; that our power extends beyond the Capitol steps. Our aim is to manifest that power by inviting you all to start planning in-district visits with your legislators for the same day. Make sure that our voices are heard not only in the Capitol, but in the communities our legislators say they represent.
Our policy platform is here (and here in Spanish). Below is our schedule for the day:
Whether you’ve joined us before or this is your first time, your participation is critical to making a California that benefits everyone a reality! Call your local legislator’s district office and make that appointment for Tuesday, May 9th. And let’s get to building.
